Associations between human bacterial pathogens and ARGs are magnified in leachates as landfill ages

چکیده

Landfills constitute the largest treatment and disposal reservoirs of anthropogenic waste on earth they are continuously releasing antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) to environment for decades via leachates. Little is known about association between ARGs human bacterial pathogens as a function time. Here, we quantified 10 subtypes ARGs, integrons, (HBPs). Except encoding sulfonamides, beta-lactams, macrolides, aminoglycosides were not related integrons (Spearman, P > 0.05). Over time presence became increasingly more correlated with (Procrustes test; R = 0.81, < 0.05), which primarily identified Proteobacteria , Actinobacteria Firmicutes . Rather than prevalence dynamics community, including increased nitrogen metabolism activity decreased diversity assumed lead magnified HBPs target (Varpart; 13%). • Target associated in Integrons directly enhanced “pathongen-ARGs” associations. Bacteria higher N-metabolizing capacity outcompeted other phyla Pathogens likely acquire less diverse community.

Pesticides in Norwegian Landfill Leachates

Pesticides have been analyzed in 28 grab samples of untreated and 12 samples of treated leachate from eight Norwegian municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills, over a period of 10 years, with the purpose to screen for compounds and to evaluate the removal in different treatment systems. Also 1 grab samples of leachate sediments is included. A total of 12 compounds were detected. The most frequentl...

Analysis of Ammonia Toxicity in Landfill Leachates

Toxicity identification evaluation (TIE) phase I manipulations and toxicity test with D. magna were conducted on leachates from an industrial waste landfill site in Japan. Physicochemical analysis detected heavy metals at concentrations insufficient to account for the observed acute toxicity. The graduated pH and aeration manipulations identified the prominent toxicity of ammonia. Based on join...

Nitrifyers in constructed wetlands treating landfill leachates

Landfill leachate is produced many years after a landfill site closes. Hence, treatment by “natural methods”, as e.g. constructed wetlands, with low management requirements is attractive. Constructed wetlands usually provide both shallow and deep areas with aerobic and anaerobic zones, which is suitable for nitrification followed by denitrification of the ammonium-rich leachates. Full-scale tre...

Combined anaerobic-aerobic treatment of landfill leachates

As a first step of treatment of landfill leachates (total COD – 1,430-3,810 mg/l, total nitrogen 90162 mg/l), a performance of laboratory UASB reactors has been investigated under mesophilic (30 C), sub-mesophilic (20 C) and psychrophilic (10 C) conditions. Under hydraulic retention times (HRT) of around 7 h, when the average organic loading rates (OLR) were around 5 g COD/l/day, the total COD ...

Tertiary treatment of landfill leachates by adsorption.

The leachates produced at the municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill of Asturias (Spain) were submitted to a biological treatment consisting of a pressurized nitrification-denitrification process followed by ultrafiltration. The effluent from this treatment plant has a high chemical oxygen demand : biochemical oxygen demand (COD : BOD( 5)) ratio (about 25 : 1). The COD values of the effluent are ...
